Amateur Radio (2E1FPV)
Since 1995 I have had a Amateur Licence but due to the cost of radio equipment I couldn't afford it. After joining Wessex 4x4 Response it was suggested that they would like members to take it up as part of our preparation for resilience (not relying on mobile phone signals).
These days the cost of radio equipment has changed massively especially due to the introduction of the Baofeng range of radios which can be picked up for less than £30.
This meant there was no excuses and due to licence changes my Novice B licence is not a classed as a Intermediate so I get more frequencies and higher power. So after a bit of fun getting my paperwork sorted I now have my old call sign back.
Be warned for I am now on the airwaves.
